The Interactive
Media Technology Center developed a low-cost 3D scanner to document
the shape and texture of three-dimensional objects. Objects ranging
in size from the human body to a small doll can be quickly digitized
using the system. The scanner is not yet available commercially.
We are looking for funding to complete this product.
Using this system eliminates the traditional time-consuming method
so prone to human error. It utilizes 3 cameras and two structured
light sources to record the data. A specially equipped PC converts
the captured data into a three-dimensional model.
