At INTEROP 1994,
IMTC And BellSouth worked together to provide trade show visitors
with feedback on their golf swings. BellSouth provided a fiber
link from the Georgia World Congress Center to IMTC's labs at Georgia
Tech. IMTC then used this link to transfer data from an Ascension
Technologies' Flock o' Birds motion capture system (located on
the exhibit floor of the Georgia World Congress Center) to IMTC's
Silicon Graphics Inc. ONYX Reality Engine. The SGI then processed
the streaming data and returned a video system that was projected
for the audience back at the BellSouth exhibit. Real-time
control of this video stream allowed a golf pro to view the golfer’s
swing from any angle and offer suggestions for improvement.
