Using computers
to improve the quality and efficiency of health care, our research
thrusts include telemedicine, telerehabilitation, medical imaging,
surgical simulation, and computer aided surgery. Biomedical technology
is provided through our member center, the Biomedical Interactive
Technology Center.
Highlighted Projects:
Wireless RERC
IMTC is assisting in the research and development
of applications of wireless technologies to enhance the independence
of people with physical and cognitive disabilities. The $5
million, five-year federal grant was awarded to The Georgia
Centers for Advanced Telecommunications Technology (GCATT),
Georgia Tech, and Shepherd Center. |

Web site that supports the monthly, one-hour radio program “Lifeline
to Health”. This
program strives to educate listeners on how to improve and
maintain their health by providing interactive call-in segments,
health/fitness

Remote medical monitoring and
teleconferencing from the patients home. |
Telerehabilitation
IMTC is helping to develop web-based
educational content to assist patients with the transition
back to home-life as well as working to create and enhance
the Cyber-Care Electronic House Care platform and customizing
medical sensor technologies for telerehabilitation uses.
