BME Virtual Cell Labs

IMTC is working with the Departments of Biomedical Engineering of both Emory University and Georgia Tech to develop a web-based interactive virtual laboratory for the study of molecular and cell biology. The virtual laboratory will familiarize undergraduate and graduate students with typical bioengineering laboratory techniques, while teaching them to analyze their laboratory results and develop alternative laboratory methods.

The experiments covered focus on the areas of cell biology and tissue engineering, gene expression analysis, and protein expression analysis. Once completed, the laboratories are intended to act not only as an extension of the courses for Georgia Tech and Emory biomedical engineering students, but also as the laboratory portion of distance learning courses in this area.
