IMTC is exploring
ways to blend the newest technologies from the multimedia industry
into the classroom and onto the factory floor. Interactive multimedia
allows students to work at their own pace and style, while providing
an environment for recursive and time-critical training. Worthwhile
uses of technology include: providing the sense of unlimited exploration,
true photorealistic experiences, just-in-time training, integration
of the work environment with training and on-line help, machines
that respond to touch, and user adaptive interfaces. IMTC
is also interested in distributing the power of a work station
to an entire classroom or geographically separated schools through
the use of telecommunication and low cost delivery systems, which
is similar to the concept of the World Wide Web linking people
to information.
