To Whom It May Concern:
I am pleased to write this letter of reference
for the work that The Interactive Media Technology Center has completed
for Zoo Atlanta.
In 1997, Zoo Atlanta contracted with IMTC to build two interactive
kiosks, one containing panda conservation information and another
containing panda facts and donor information. These kiosks are on
display at our Giant Panda exhibit. Soon after, we hired IMTC again
for completion of an interactive program on a kiosk at our gorilla
exhibit highlighting gorilla vocalizations, complete
with video, audio and sonograms. A visitor interaction study was
completed earlier this year at the gorilla exhibit and the vocalization
kiosk ranked very high as a spot that the visitors frequented. Due
to that kiosk’s success, in the Spring of 2002 we once again
enlisted the services of IMTC for the development of "The Mating
Game" to be located on a second kiosk at the gorilla center.
As the video production manager in Zoo Atlanta's Department of Conservation
Technology, I have had the pleasure of working with the IMTC team
on the gorilla projects, the latter of which I was the primary contact.
The IMTC team was instrumental in the planning stages of the
programs by providing suggestions on ways to achieve our goals
utilizing the
technologies available. They were sensitive to our monetary limits
and made use of zoo resources whenever possible to keep the project
on-budget. They even worked overtime without compensation to ensure
the projects measured up to their standard of excellence and were
completed in the timeframe necessary.
I found the IMTC team easy to work with and they were always,
and continue to be, easily accessible for additional information.
They
kept us abreast of the project progress and worked with myself
and the rest of the Zoo staff to achieve the look and functionality
that
we desired. When the program was to be installed, they were very
helpful and efficient in copying the content to the kiosk machines,
installing the equipment in the space and ensuring that the programs
would work as intended.
I would recommend the Interactive Media Technology Center to
anyone looking for quality and professionalism in the creation
of new
media systems. If you are interested in further information
regarding IMTC's
work with Zoo Atlanta, please do not hesitate to contact me
